Infant Massage

What is infant massage?

Infant massage is a process of stroking the muscles of an infant using a variety of specialized massage techniques.

How old does my baby need to be?

We accept babies from 6 weeks to 18 months with the minimum weight of 4kg for our Infant massage sessions.

How long will my baby’s massage session last?

Ideally, the duration of the infant massage lasts up to 20-30 minutes, it also depends on your baby’s massage tolerance. If your baby seems to be enjoying it, we continue to do it up to a maximum of 45 minutes.

Who massages my baby during the infant massage sessions?

All our massage sessions are done by certified infant massage practitioners trained under the certified instructors from the International Association of Infant massage(IAIM)

What is the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM)?

The International Association of Infant Massage was founded by Vimala McClure, who was the first person to put together a professional programme for infant massage in 1976. IAIM is an internationally established and recognized organization with affiliated chapters in countries around the world.

When is the best time to attend infant massage sessions?

After a long sleep and a good feed is ideal.

Should we bring our baby before or after a feed?

Your baby should not be hungry or tired or he/she will not get the best from the session. We recommend you feed your baby or offer a ‘top-up’ before the massages. We have a nursing room where you can feed your baby

What should I bring when I come for my infant massage sessions with the baby?

◉ Your baby milk/formula if you are not breastfeeding your baby
◉ Extra set of clothes if you are willing to let the baby change after the sessions
◉ If your baby is using any special type of diaper /nappy, please don’t forget to get an extra one

Do I need to accompany my baby ?

All babies should be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all the times

Hydrotherapy

How old does my baby need to be?

We accept babies from 2 months to 1 year for our single tub hydrotherapy private sessions and babies from 6 months to 2.5 years for our bigger tub hydrotherapy sessions.

What is the duration of the hydrotherapy session?

For first-timers, the water training session is limited to around 20 minutes to prevent overfatigue. Subsequently, the session can be a bit longer and longer depending on your baby's endurance. With continuity, repeat visits and with experience, tolerance and strength will develop and your baby will be able to enjoy sessions in the water for up to 30 - 45 minutes.

Should we bring our baby before or after a feed?

Do we get into the pool with our baby during hydrotherapy?

For single tub hydrotherapy sessions, your baby will have with a flotation device which will keep him/her safe, comfortable and able to move around independently. However, you will be standing close by to your baby, observing and interacting.

For our bigger tubs or what we normally call Aqua play date, you can get into the pool with your baby and have water plays. We allow 3-4 Babies in the pool during one session

What should I bring when I come for my hydrotherapy sessions with the baby?

Do I need to accompany my baby?

All babies should be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian at all the times.

Is it safe?

Since the baby becomes weightless in water, the main purpose of the floater used is to keep them floating vertically. The floater is positioned safely and loosely around the neck, under the baby's chin and occipital bone.

What to expect in a childbirth class?

A childbirth class is a great way to prepare for labour and birth. Our childbirth classes range from a one-day intensive workshop to weekly sessions lasting a month or more. Few topics which we cover during this session include

*The signs of labour *The normal progress of labour *Birth Techniques for coping with pain *How your partner can help you during labour etc

When should I take a childbirth class?

Any time before you go into labour is a good time to take a childbirth education class, but enrolling around month 6 or 7 of your pregnancy is when most experts recommend. Keep in mind that the sooner you register, the more flexibility you’ll have in terms of class dates and times.
